WARSAW CONFERENCE WARSAW, Nov 6 (Hina) - We must fight terrorism immediately because there is no time for previous analyses of its causes and roots, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Tuesday at a conference on the fight against
terrorism held in Warsaw. "We shall all act within the range of our abilities, there is no time to wait, investigate the causes and roots of terrorism," Mesic said and recalled his platform on a draft principle of action of an anti-terrorist coalition which was presented in Slovakia and Bulgaria at the beginning of October. WARSAW, Nov 6 (Hina) - We must fight terrorism immediately because
there is no time for previous analyses of its causes and roots,
Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Tuesday at a conference on
the fight against terrorism held in Warsaw.
"We shall all act within the range of our abilities, there is no time
to wait, investigate the causes and roots of terrorism," Mesic said
and recalled his platform on a draft principle of action of an anti-
terrorist coalition which was presented in Slovakia and Bulgaria at
the beginning of October.
The countries which have gathered in Warsaw were invited by
geographic criteria, but this group is diverse as by their
geographic dimensions, so by their degree of development and
democracy, as well as how close they are to European associations,
and membership in NATO, the president said.
"However, we are all united by the need to assert our own role in an
international coalition," Mesic said.
He warned about the hazard of drawing one-sided conclusions that
the crisis in the Near East was the cause for everything, which is in
favour of the terrorism.
"Non-development, poverty, the lack of freedom, and the
consequences of regional crises not being solved all create a
favourable environment for fanaticism of those who are going
through all this, and the easiest solution is to hide behind some
religion or ideology," Mesic asserted.
The Croatian President's conclusion ended with four issues,
including the establishment of a practice of constant exchange of
information within an anti-terrorist coalition, the establishment
and consolidation of cooperation among intelligence services,
placing an accent on the economic component of the war against
terrorism, and the start of a serious analysis of its causes so one
could resist effectively.
"This will be the best contribution and winning combination in the
fight against terrorism, the Croatian President stressed.
