BELGRADE, Aug 31 (Hina) - Yugoslavia's head of state has slammed Lt. Col. Veselin Sljivancanin's recent public appearance, saying it considerably hampers Yugoslavia's international position, but also opposes Sljivancanin's
extradition, and that of other indictees, to the Hague war crimes tribunal before Yugoslavia adopts a law on cooperation with the tribunal. President Vojislav Kostunica told Beta news agency on Friday that "Sljivancanin, by making public appearances like he did in Vrbas (on Wednesday) at the promotion of a book about his war days, is causing damage to himself as well." The Yugoslav head of state also criticised Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic for Thursday's statement to the effect that Sljivancanin's arrest and extradition were in the competence of Kostunica and the Yugoslav Army.
