BELGRADE, June 14 (Hina) - The Chief Prosecutor of the
International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY),
Carla del Ponte, will next week visit Belgrade where she will
discuss Yugoslavia's cooperation with the ICTY with the highest
Yugoslav state officials, Thursday's issue of the Belgrade-based
paper 'Danas' quoted ICTY's spokeswoman Florance Hartmann as
saying.
The visit should be considered in the light of this year's report
which the ICTY Chief Prosecutor will submit to the UN Security
Council in late June, Hartmann explained.
The Yugoslav government should today adopt a law on cooperation
between Yugoslavia and the Hague war crimes tribunal, which
envisages the hand-over of Yugoslav citizens to the ICTY.
The Belgrade electronic media reported today the session of the
Yugoslav parliament, at which this law is to be adopted, should be
held next Monday or Tuesday.
The adoption of the law would enable the hand-over of, among else,
the former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic, who on Wednesday
hired as many as ten law firms to take care of his defence. It is not
known if he has hired exclusively Yugoslav lawyers or foreign ones
as well.
In the meantime, the doctors' team at the Belgrade Central Prison,
where Milosevic has been kept in custody, reported today that his
condition required no special medical treatment outside the
prison.
