Glas Koncila holds that the Croatian democratic public failed the test with regards gatherings in Kumrovec on May 25, on the day when the birthday of president Josip Broz Tito was celebrated in the former Yugoslavia. In Kumrovec (the birth place of Josip Broz), people not only celebrated a historic figure, but also glorified his 'historic way' as something absolute, which is what caused the consternation of those who care for true democracy. "As Ustashi symbols were compromised among the Croatian people, so were communist symbols, and both are equally unwanted, that is to say, if this is not so in Croatia, then there is a real danger of the wheels of history spinning back," the paper writes.
