U.S. OFFICIAL - U.S. REMAINS PRESENT IN BALKANS

Autor: ;HALF;
WASHINGTON, June 8 (Hina) - There is no doubt at all that the United States will keep its political and military presence in the Balkans as long as there is a need for NATO to remain there, the U.S. state secretary's newly-appointed assistant for Europe said on Friday. Any one-sided decision is out of the question, Elizabeth Jones said in Washington. She added leading U.S. officials were trying to assess which solutions were the most appropriate for Bosnia and Kosovo. The U.S. will adapt its political and military engagement in line with the course of events, she added. Speaking about Macedonia, Jones agreed the situation was very serious, perhaps even critical. She said the European Union was leading the international community's harmonised political activity.(hina) ha
