The meetings of the Central European Presidents started eight years ago? on the initiative of Czech President Vaclav Havel, who believed that informal contacts of heads of states could promote cooperation in this part of Europe. This year, apart from the host, Italian President Carlo Azeglio Campi, the meeting will be attended by the presidents of Croatia, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, MOLDAVIA and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
