ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - The Serb National Council (SNV) president, Milorad Pupovac, has said that "the time has come for everybody to think which (coalition) combinations are possible as to lead to the full political stability at the

According to an interview he granted to Saturday's issue of the "Jutarnji List" daily, Pupovac regards that the current coalition combinations do not ensure the necessary stability. ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - The Serb National Council (SNV) president,
Milorad Pupovac, has said that "the time has come for everybody to
think which (coalition) combinations are possible as to lead to the
full political stability at the local and national level in
Croatia."
According to an interview he granted to Saturday's issue of the
"Jutarnji List" daily, Pupovac regards that the current coalition
combinations do not ensure the necessary stability.
In this context he said the Independent Democratic Serb Party
(SDSS) was the fifth-ranked party according to the votes it
mustered at the latest local elections in Croatia, adding that the
SDSS gained only 12 seats less than the HSLS (Croatian Social
Liberal Party, a member of the six-party ruling coalition).
Commenting on possibilities for forming coalitions, Pupovac said
that the SDSS would not join in a coalition with extremist political
parties either from the Croatian or the Serb side.
"We simply do not want to join in coalitions which include people
who tread democratic principles underfoot, regardless whether
Djapic (leader of a Croatian rightist party HSP) or Djukic (leader
of a Serb party, SNS) are in question."
Regarding the cooperation with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)
it is possible where it refers to "technical cooperation" necessary
for the constitution of local authorities, Pupovac said.
He maintains that the ruling six-party coalition is not prepared
for the true civil and multi-ethnic consensus.
Pupovac complained that the Serb community had been avoided in
celebrations of Croatia's national holiday, Statehood Day, and was
excluded from decision-making referring to its position.
