SPLIT HSLS ADVOCATES ESTABLISHMENT OF INTERIM CITY AUTHORITY SPLIT, May 29 (Hina) - A representative of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) branch in the southern city of Split said on Monday his party would form an alliance

If these two groups fail to reach an agreement, the HSLS will propose that a minority city authority be established, he said. The Split HSLS branch agreed at a meeting last night that the party should remain in the political centre and do all it can to bring the SDP and the Croatian Bloc closer as both options belong to the Croatian national corps. SPLIT, May 29 (Hina) - A representative of the Croatian Social
Liberal Party (HSLS) branch in the southern city of Split said on
Monday his party would form an alliance neither with the Social
Democratic Party (SDP) nor with the Croatian Bloc, led by the
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). If these two groups fail to reach
an agreement, the HSLS will propose that a minority city authority
be established, he said.
The Split HSLS branch agreed at a meeting last night that the party
should remain in the political centre and do all it can to bring the
SDP and the Croatian Bloc closer as both options belong to the
Croatian national corps.
"However, if this fails, the Split HSLS will suggest the
establishment of a minority city administration," said the branch
president Miroslav Bulicic.
"One option would be to try and bring together people from the city
who do not belong to any party and who would try to govern Split in
the interest of the city and the region for a period of six months or
a year, given that for the time being the two opposed sides have no
intention of establishing dialogue," Bulicic said.
"The Split HSLS is unanimous that the Croatian political scene has
divided into the Left and the Right, particularly in Split, and that
this is not good for the future of the city or the state," he said.
