MOSTAR, May 16 (Hina) - Bosnia's Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)
party on Wednesday reacted to charges pressed yesterday by the
defence ministry of one of Bosnia's entities, the Croat-Muslim
federation, against three former political and military
officials.
The federal defence ministry charged former Bosnian Presidency
member Ante Jelavic, former federal Defence Minister Miroslav
Prce, and the federal army's former deputy commander, Lt. Col.
Dragan Curcic, with subversion of the federal army's defence
power.
According to the HDZ, the charges "are completely unfounded and the
pinnacle of (Defence Minister) Mijo Anic and his masterminds'
political farce, and an expression of their inability to see the
totality of Bosnia-Herzegovina's political and all-round
crisis."
A statement released to the media in the southern Bosnian town of
Mostar stresses the charges "have no legal foundation."
It adds Jelavic, Prce and Curcic "were the main creators and
builders of the defence system of the federation and BH" and of
Bosnia's joint army.
The HDZ believes the charges are aimed at obstructing the activity
of the party and the Croat National Congress, the Bosnian Croat
self-rule.
