BRATISLAVA-Politika VILNIUS COUNTRIES WRAP BRATISLAVA CONFERENCE BRATISLAVA, May 12 (Hina) - A two-day conference of countries participating in the Vilnius group wrapped in Bratislava on Saturday with the assessment that
non-governmental organisations play an important role in bringing countries together when politicians are unable to communicate. On Friday the participants, which included all nine prime ministers of the V-9 group, as well as Croatia's Ivica Racan, discussed NATO enlargement. The prime ministers of countries aspiring to join NATO next year confirmed their goal and voiced optimism that NATO would expand at next year's summit in Prague. By participating in the Bratislava conference, Croatia has in fact become a member of the V-9 group, although with much less chance to join NATO next year. The Vilnius group comprises Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Macedonia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.(hina) ha
