ZAGREB, March 12 (Hina) - An agreement memorandum on the
development of the Paneuropean Corridor X, whose principal route
crosses Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Macedonia, and
Greece, will be signed in Salonika on March 15th.
The corridor extends from Salzburg, crossing Ljubljana, Zagreb,
Belgrade, and Skopje, to Salonika, and has four branches, Graz-
Maribor-Zagreb, Budapest-Belgrade, Nis-Sofia, and Veles-
Florina.
The memorandum will be signed by the transport ministers of
Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Macedonia,
Bulgaria, and Greece, Croatia's Transport Minister Alojz Tusek
told reporters in Zagreb on Monday.
He said the memorandum covers all sorts of transport - road, rail,
air, and river transport, as well as aspects referring to
construction, infrastructure maintenance, rates, access, and
services.
The managing director of Croatian Railways (HZ), Marijan
Drempetic, pointed to the significance the tenth corridor had for
HZ's business prior to the pre-war year 1990, when it accounted for
60 percent of the company's earnings, as against the current 20
percent.
Drempetic said an agreement was signed in Belgrade earlier this
month on the establishment of a working community for the tenth
corridor, and a letter of intent on the introduction of a quality
system along the corridor in accordance with ISO9001 quality norms.
The agreement was signed by all countries crossed by the corridor.
