ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - The US Navy amphibious transportation ship USS Nashville will visit Dubrovnik between February 28 and March 7, 2001, reads a statement issued by the US Embassy in Zagreb on Tuesday. The ship is under the
command of the U.S. Sixth Fleet and is a member of the USS Nassau Amphibious Ready Group. The USS Nashville, an Austin class amphibious transport dock ship, is used to transport and land Marines, their equipment and supplies by embarked landing craft or amphibious vehicles. The ship is also equipped with a helicopter deck used by transport helicopters in amphibious assaults. The ship is under the command of Captain J.A. Symonds and carries a crew of approximately 400 sailors and over 400 marines. This is the fourth visit of a US Navy ship to Croatia since the beginning of this year.(hina) rml
