ZAGREB, Feb 7 (Hina) - "Some forces in Croatia don't want peace but
instability, escalation and fear - this is the message of planting
explosive on the partisan vault at Zagreb's Mirogoj," says "Mines
Under Croatia", an editorial commentary in the latest issue of Glas
Koncila, the paper of the Croatian Bishops' Conference.
The planting of mines undermines independent and democratically-
oriented Croatia, the editorial stresses.
Such terrorist acts put Croatia "on the pillar of shame" as the
country corroborating "the blackest picture of the Croatian people
which the Greater Serbia and communist propaganda persistently
spread around the world for half a century," says the Glas Koncila
issue which hit the news-stands on Wednesday.
The weekly also comments on serious accusations on the account of
those with different political views, which could be heard in the
wake of the Mirogoj cemetery blast.
Glas Koncila draws special attention to the criticism the
"extremist left wing" levelled at the "political right wing,"
reminding that both political groups committed crimes in the past
and are equally dangerous for Croatia's democratic orientation.
A democratic society should have room for both left and right wing
stances, "with the only condition that they renounce violence and
accept a fair electoral match," the commentary said.
