WASHINGTON WASHINGTON, Jan 30 (Hina) - Croatia's Deputy Justice Minister Ranko Marijan held talks with a senior official at the Office of the US General Attorney, Bruce Swartz, in Washington on Tuesday. The two officials discussed the
functioning of the judicial systems in the United States and Croatia, especially with regard to cooperation in preventing organised crime. Marijan is the first foreign guest to visit the Office of the US Attorney General after the change of authority in Washington. Since Attorney General John Ashcroft and his deputy have still not been named, Marijan was received by Swartz, a Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the Criminal Division. Swartz accepted an initiative that the US assist Croatia in the education of judges and strengthening of the functioning of the rule of law.
