The Croatian parliamentary delegation, headed by Feric-Vac this
week participated in a winter session of the Council of Europe's
parliamentary Assembly in Strasbourg which ends on Friday.
Between January 22 and 26, the Parliamentary Assembly's agenda
included the situation in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the
implementation of the Stability Pact etc.
During a discussion on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which
enjoys a special guest status, Feric-Vac said this was both "a
challenge and an opportunity" for the country, because it offers an
opportunity to the new political elite to distance themselves from
the nationalist policy by actions and declarations.
Feric-Vac also tackled future relations between Croatia and the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, adding it was necessary to solve a
series of issues, primarily the issues of succession, return of
refugees and detained persons, as well as the fate of missing and
detained persons, and the protection of the Croatian minority in
Croatia.
The international community should treat Yugoslavia equally as
other countries in transition, while Yugoslavia should solve its
relationship with war criminals and the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Feric-Vac added.
During a session, also held was a meeting of Croatian, Slovene,
Bosnia-Herzegovina's and Macedonia's representatives with
president of the committee for legal issues and human rights Gunnar
Jansson, regarding the solving of the Ljubljanska Bank debt to
Croatian depositors..
Members of the Croatian delegation are Snjezana Biga-Friganovic,
Drazen Budisa, Zdravka Busic, Niko Bulic, Milan Dukic, Stjepan
Radic i Ivo Skrabalo.
