ZAGREB/THE HAGUE, Jan 23 (Hina) - A trial against former commander of the Drina corps General Radislav Krstic, suspected of committing genocide in Bosnia-Herzegovina's town of Srebrenica, before the International Criminal Tribunal for
the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), has been adjourned only three weeks before the final verdict due to the defendant's health condition, the ICTY said in a statement Tuesday. The ICTY Trial Chamber passed this decision at the request of the defence and expert opinion of a doctors' team, hired by the defence, and in line with which Krstic is not capable of attending the trial. The ICTY Secretariat should arrange an independent medical check-up for General Krstic and submit a report on his medical condition by February 15. According to the indictment, Krstic and his units attacked the
protected United Nations area in Srebrenica and by July 18 expelled
or murdered almost the entire Muslim population of the enclave.
In December 1998, Krstic was arrested by the Stabilisation Force.
