PULA, Jan 22 (Hina) - Pula Mayor Giancarlo Zupic told reporters on Monday he had offered his resignation while the head of the town gas supply company, Igor Tomasic, had resigned due to a blast in the municipal underground sewerage,
which occurred last Friday. One person sustained serious injuries and five others were lightly wounded in the blast, which also damaged 30 cars. Zupic told reporters four persons were in hospital and their condition was improving, including the man who sustained the gravest injuries. Zupic requested the county prefect to declare the state of natural disaster for the Pula area, which is expected to be done in coming days. He called on citizens to report damage caused by the blast and voiced hope responsibility for the accident would soon be established.(hina) rml
