ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - The identification of the remains of ten persons, Croatian Homeland War soldiers and civilians exhumed from mass graves in Vukovar-Srijem County, and four persons whose remains were exhumed from a cemetery in
Yugoslavia's Novi Sad and who went missing during the war in Croatia, was conducted at the Zagreb Forensic Institute on Monday.
ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - The identification of the remains of ten
persons, Croatian Homeland War soldiers and civilians exhumed from
mass graves in Vukovar-Srijem County, and four persons whose
remains were exhumed from a cemetery in Yugoslavia's Novi Sad and
who went missing during the war in Croatia, was conducted at the
Zagreb Forensic Institute on Monday. #L#
The DNA analysis on Monday confirmed the identity of 12 out of 14
persons. Also identified were four persons exhumed from the Ovcara
mass grave, one from the Lovas farm, three from Novi Sad where they
were buried as unidentified persons, and four persons whose remains
were discovered at Vukovar's New Cemetery.
Today's identification process was unable to establish with
certainty the identity of one victim, so additional DNA analysis
will be required, the head of the government's office for missing
and detained persons, Ivan Grujic said.
He said that after today's identification, another 1,317 persons
were still registered as missing after the Homeland War.
So far, a total of 2,774 persons exhumed from 135 mass and numerous
individual graves have been exhumed.
Grujic announced the identification of another 14 persons to take
place on Thursday, December 12.
