BELGRADE, Dec 2 (Hina) - Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica on Monday said that cooperation with the international war crimes tribunal at The Hague cannot be avoided but that it needed to be mutual, "and the ICTY prosecution is
very demanding and it causes a certain projection of events".

"We are not indifferent to what image will be created about us.
Crimes were committed by various sides and the entire story of the
responsibility for the war is a great deal more complex. I believe
that the most responsible are those who had the highest authority,
but that was neither of the opposing Communist oligarchies in the
former Yugoslavia, rather those who then could have stopped the war
from either Brussels or Mastricht, namely the then European
Community, but they did not do so," Kostunica told Belgrade's
television Studio B during a pre-election campaign for the
presidential run-up in Serbia.
