The voting ended on early Sunday morning. His landslide victory was
also a result of the fact that the other candidate for the SDP chief,
Bogic Bogicevic, withdrew from the race.
Before the voting, the current Bosnian foreign minister was faced
with criticism and accusations which delegates levelled against
him for the party's bed results at the general ballot.
Lagumdzija admitted that he bore "the objective responsibility"
for those poor results.
The convention was also marked by the departure of Nijaz Durakovic,
a former SDP leader, from this party.
Besides Durakovic, it is expected that some other prominent
members, such as Miro Lazovic, Sejfudin Tokic, Ivo Komsic and Sead
Avdic, who recently lobbied against Lagumdzija, will also leave the
SDP. They have accused Lagumdzija of having led the party in the
autocratic manner.
