President Stjepan Mesic and Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe in Colombo on Saturday expressed a desire to step political and economic cooperation between the two countries. In a brief statement to reporters after talks with Mesic, who has arrived in a visit to Sri Lanka, PM Wickremasinghe said he was happy about the visit, the first by a Croatian president since the country achieved independence. "We are recovering from the war and wish to build political and economic ties with Croatia," he said.
