"Sanader and his bunch are intending to expel a half of the
membership out of the party, and I am sure that Franjo Tudjman,
would have been excluded, if he were alive now," Pavo Gagulic said
at a news conference in Zagreb.
Last week, the HDZ presidency launched the disciplinary procedure
against Gagulic, accusing him of serious breaches of his
obligations as an HDZ member and of causing damage to the party's
reputation.
Gagulic said that in case of his exclusion from the party he would
remain an HDZ member and called on the party's membership to remain
in the party, given that the current HDZ leadership represented
only 10 percent of members.
Commenting on statements of an HDZ leader, Branimir Glavas, that he
should be swiftly and effectively thrown out of the party, Gagulic
posed a question whether he would be killed if the HDZ came into
power (after the next elections).
Gagulic has sent written information to Interior Minister Sime
Lucin about having received threats that he must not reveal facts
which might damage the reputation of some HDZ officials.
He announced he was going to press charges over the threats and if
necessary, he would protect his rights before international
courts.
