Croatian Employment Bureau (HZZ) stated on Thursday. #L#
A total of 374,968 people were registered with the HZZ in October,
which is 827 people less than the month before.
HZZ director Sanja Crnkovic Pozaic told reporters this was the
first time since 1996 that the unemployment rate in October dropped
in relation to September.
Crnkovic Pozaic attributes this fact to the reduced number of newly
registered job-seekers caused by stricter registration criteria,
as well as to this year's slower re-registration of seasonal
workers.
Crnkovic Pozaic said that along with its previous employment
incentives the HZZ was also conducting a project of employment in
construction and shipbuilding industries.
The project shows that demand in those sectors is not that great as
believed and that people seeking employment in construction and
shipbuilding industries often do not meet strict employment
criteria or are unavailable due to black labour, she said.
