WASHINGTON, Oct 15 (Hina) - The National Federation of Croatian
Americans (NFCA) sent a letter to the State Department and members
of the Committee on International Relations of both Congress
houses, expressing support for the Croatian government's efforts
to challenge with legal means an indictment of the war crimes
tribunal at The Hague against Croatian General Janko Bobetko. #L#
Among other things, the letter notes that none of the high-ranking
officers of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) has been indicted for
crimes committed by the JNA in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina nor
charged with command responsibility for the death of 200,000 Croats
and Bosniaks.
Commenting on pressures on the Croatian government to
unconditionally cooperate with the tribunal, the NFCA reminds that
the US government had written off two thirds of Yugoslavia's
foreign debt although Serbia is known to harbour a dozen war crimes
indictees.
The association has called on the State Department to carefully
examine the tribunal's work and results.
