CROATIAN AMERICANS SEND PROTEST LETTER TO UN WAR CRIMES TRIBUNAL

Autor: ;MSES;
WASHINGTON, Oct 13 (Hina) - The National Federation of Croatian Americans (NFCA) on Saturday forwarded a letter to the ICTY's President, Claude Jorda, protesting over the decision of the tribunal's prosecution to withdraw a part of the indictment against a former Yugoslav President, Slobodan Milosevic.
#L# The protest letter sent to the President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) reads that the NFCA asks that evidence on the genocide over Croats in Bosnia- Herzegovina should remain in the ICTY's archives. The NFCA asks Jorda not to allow injustice, under the pretext of efficiency and speed of the trial, to be done to Croats, mercilessly killed during the war in Bosnia. The NFCA reminds that Milosevic was accused of the genocide committed against Bosniaks (Muslims) and Croats in Bosnia, but Chief Prosecutor Carla del Ponte has recently announced that she has to withdraw a part of the Milosevic indictment and present evidence only on the genocide over the Bosnian Muslims, due to the time limitations in the duration of the Milosevic process. The American Croats' association asks Judge Jorda to order the prosecutor del Ponte to submit evidence on the genocide over Bosnian Croats, and to allow the prolongation of the trial if necessary. The NFCA describes the attempt to make division between Bosniak and Croat victims of the same genocidal plan as incomprehensible. It sent another letter to authorities in Croatia and Bosnia- Herzegovina asking them to officially protest over the ICTY prosecution's decision. The copies of the letters were forwarded to the international relations committees of the both chambers of U.S. Congress and to the State Department. (hina) ms
