A resolution which was unanimously adopted, reads that the Security
Council empowers the UNMOP to continue monitoring the
demilitarised area of the peninsula of Prevlaka during the last
extension of its mandate until 15 December 2002.
The Council asks the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to make
preparations for the conclusion of the work of military observers
gradually decreasing their number until the expiry of the mandate
in accordance with the stable and peaceful situation on the ground
and considering the normalisation of the relations between Croatia
and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The resolution calls on Belgrade and Zagreb to continue
strengthening their ties and stepping up efforts aimed at reaching
an agreement on Prevlaka.
Annan will have to once again inform the Council about the
completion of the UNMOP mandate.
