The bill on amendments to the law on travel papers would thus take
effect as of 1 January, 2003.
On that date, changes to the law on the personal identification
number will also go in force which stipulate that the number can no
longer be visible in official papers of citizens.
The personal identification number can be written in documents only
in some exceptions and it will be coded in such cases, Interior
Minister Sime Lucin said.
The government on Friday gave its consent to an action plan for the
promotion of non-governmental environment protection
organisations. The European Parliament and the European Union's
Council adopted the plan and ensured a fund of 32 million euros for
this purpose for 2002-2006 period. Croatia is one of the countries
which have access to the fund.
