In the afternoon hours, Misetic spoke to journalists in front of
Bobetko's home and stated that Premier Ivica Racan had forgotten
that before he proceeded with the UN Tribunal's indictment, he was
compelled to verify three matters: if the indictment is in
compliance with the Statute of the Hague Tribunal; if it is in
compliance with regulations set by the Hague Tribunal; and if it is
in contradiction to the Croatian Constitution.
However, Misetic added that Racan's government did not do this in
the case of Ante Gotovina either and the lawyer did not expect
anything in particular from it now.
The Government's Office for Co-operation with the Hague Tribunal on
Thursday evening reported that it had received an indictment from
the Hague Tribunal against Gen. Bobetko however, the press release
did not mention what crimes General Bobetko was accused of.
Following this evening's talks with General Bobetko, Misetic told
journalists that the 83-year-old retired general would speak to
ICTY investigators only in his own home.
"If Racan has not lied then he will wait for the Sabor and then the
Government should inspect and check the indictment," Misetic said.
Asked by journalists, Misetic said that Gen. Bobetko felt as
usual.
Also responding to questions by journalists if a headquarters would
be set up in defence of General Bobetko, Misetic responded
affirmatively.
