SKOPJE, Sept 17 (Hina) - According to fully tallied, although still unofficial, votes, the results of which the Macedonian national electoral commission will issue on Wednesday, the Social Democratic Alliance led by Branko Crvenski
and the Democratic Union for Initiative of Alija Ahmeti, won in Macedonia's parliamentary election which took place last Sunday.
SKOPJE, Sept 17 (Hina) - According to fully tallied, although still
unofficial, votes, the results of which the Macedonian national
electoral commission will issue on Wednesday, the Social
Democratic Alliance led by Branko Crvenski and the Democratic Union
for Initiative of Alija Ahmeti, won in Macedonia's parliamentary
election which took place last Sunday. #L#
Messages of congratulations for successful and democratic
elections have arrived from all relevant factors in the
international community, including from the United States.
Numerous announcements of various scenarios for unrest during and
after elections did not come to be. On the contrary, the leader of
the former ruling VMRO-DPMNE party, Ljubco Gregorijevski, readily
admitted defeat and congratulated the winners.
Unofficial results state that the Social Democratic Alliance, in
coalition with 10 parties, won 40 percent of votes, and VMRO-DPMNE
in coalition with two parties counted 24 percent of votes.
Out of four Albanian parties, most votes were given to members of
the former People's Liberation Army gathered into the Democratic
Union for Initiative with 11.8 percent of votes.
All ethnic groups will have seats in parliament: Turks two seats,
the Romany, Serbs and Bosniaks one each. According to the
unofficial results, Albanians will have two seats more than in the
former parliament.
