Mesic and Drnovsek agreed that the two countries' open issues
should be solved in a peaceful atmosphere, the President's Office
said in a statement.
The two officials agreed that the solutions must be found through
agreement while arbitration remained the final solution
Drnovsek informed parliament president Tomcic of the talks with his
Croatian counterpart Ivica Racan and their results. Drnovsek said
they reached an agreement on a code of conduct for fishermen in
Piran Bay.
Tomcic hailed the temporary agreement the two governments reached
today, saying it was a good foundation for a permanent solution to
the Croatia-Slovenia dispute over Piran Bay.
He advocated the bilateral solving of the issue, after which, in
case of a failure, the two countries should approach arbitration.
