DUBROVNIK, Sept 10 (Hina) - "The current situation on Prevlaka
peninsula is still a problem and an example of Croatia's truncated
territorial integrity, and the continuation of such a situation is
unacceptable for Croatia," Professor Hrvoje Kacic said at a seminar
on the subject of Croatia's border on Prevlaka peninsula. #L#
The seminar was organised by associations of Croatian volunteers
and veterans of the Homeland War, Dubrovnik City and the city's
branch of the association of Croatian military invalids of the
Homeland War.
Kacic recalled that Dubrovnik-Neretva County had last year
requested that the UN mission on the southernmost Croatian
peninsula be withdrawn. He called on the Croatian government to
undertake all necessary measures so that the current situation
could be solved in the interest of the Croatian state.
Kacic stressed that UN observers had no authority anywhere in the
world to stop the free movement of civilians and using the area for
economic purposes, and Prevlaka was the perfect example of where
they were overstepping their mandate.
The professor said he expected the issue of Prevlaka, that is, the
presence of the UN Mission, to be solved by the end of the year,
under the condition that the Croatian diplomacy undertake the
necessary steps on time.
