During the meeting the fishermen informed prefect Jakovcic of the
contents of current talks with Slovene fishermen. They informed him
of the situation in Piran Bay and what they expected in the
continuation of negotiations.
On Tuesday evening Kolec said that during the talks with Jakovcic
there were sharp tones and heavy words spoken, which is why prefect
Jakovcic announced another meeting with the fishermen.
In a statement for Hina, Kolec expressed hope that politicians
would finally come to an agreement because the fishermen themselves
would find it hard to come to a solution that would satisfy both the
Croatian and Slovene side.
The conclusion of the talks between the Croatian and Slovene
fishermen whereby not one side will fish in the contentious area
until Saturday when a new meeting will be held, was referred to by
Kolec as the calm before the storm.
He announced that a new meeting of Istrian fishermen would be held
before Saturday.
