programme, the Croatian defence ministry stated on Sunday. #L#
The Military Police platoon counting 44 men is the first Croatian
armed forces unit to have risen up to NATO's standards and is ready
for deployment to a 30-day long peace mission when called, which is
expected to happen in October or November, the ministry's public
relations' office said in a statement.
The four-member German verification team headed by a brigadier of
the German Military Police, Omberst Stumpp, inspected the platoon
from August 26 through 29 and handed it a certificate of readiness
for peace missions.
The team checked the police officers' individual skills, the unit's
equipment, command work and operation capabilities and the
police's overall abilities.
The German officers estimated that the readiness and ability of the
platoon was such as to absolutely guarantee the execution of all
tasks, the ministry said.
