ZAGREB, Aug 16 (Hina) - President of the Sisak County Court, Danko
Kovac, on Friday announced that he would ask that the
responsibility of the president of the Association of Judges (UHS)
Vladimir Gredelj be raised within that organisation. #L#
Kovac estimated that Gredelj "unfairly, unprofessionally and
partially falsely" interpreted last week's incident when three
reporters were kept in Kovac's chambers.
Last week Gredelj announced that the UHS was astounded by the
behaviour of Judge Kovac who had kept reporters in his chambers for
over two hours while they had been trying to report on a pre-
investigative proceeding relating to a possible war crimes case
committed in Sisak in 1991.
In a his statement released on Friday, Kovac said Gredelj made his
claims based on partial misinformation released in the media
without even attempting to ascertain the true circumstances.
He added that talks would be initiated why Gredelj did not react to
media headlines when accusation were made that the Sisak County
Court was operating unlawfully.
Kovac denounced Gredelj's claims that he was selected as the
president of the Sisak County Court without the support of the
council of judges.
Kovac is a member of the Administrative Board of the Association of
Croatian Judges.
