In a final bill protection and rescues, the government has adopted
objections by MPs to the bill in its first reading, stating that the
transition to the unified system for protection and rescue in cases
of accidents and catastrophes required several months of
preparation. The bill was forwarded into parliamentary procedure
and could be adopted in mid-September when the parliament is to
convene for its next regular sitting. The law could then come into
force early next year.
The 112 Centre would collect and analyse data about dangers and the
possible repercussions of natural disasters, infectious diseases,
burglaries, traffic accidents and other dangers that could
threaten the lives, health and security of citizens, their
property, natural environment, cultural and material goods.
Information in this regard would be forwarded to relevant state
bodies and local self-government units. Amongst other things the
unit would warn citizens and inform of any imminent dangers,
procedures during such circumstances and likely duration of such
states, as well as when it would be likely to cease.
The system of organised forces for protection and rescue would
include the current units of information and alarming within the
interior ministry, defence ministry, fire-fighters and civil
protection units.
