PRISTINA, Feb 10 (Hina) - The United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) will not tolerate violence at announced protests against the arrest of three former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, suspected of war crimes against
civilians, the UNMIK said in a statement in Pristina on Sunday. Special units of the UNMIK and Kosovo police will undertake harsh measures against those encouraging citizens to join protests by violence and force, the statement read. The UNMIK information office head, Simon Haselock, said a protest held in Pristina on Friday was an attempt by some groups to confront UNMIK. He said a right to demonstrations should be based on a principle of peaceful behaviour of citizens. against such protests which are aggravating good relations between
the international community and Albanians in Kosovo. The Kosovo
defence corps said in a statement on Sunday violence towards the
police, citizens and their property was unacceptable and
unjustifiable.
