The State Prosecutor's Office based its request on a report by the Interior Ministry's Criminology Centre "Ivan Vucetic" according to which the analysed dialysers contained a poisonous chemical substance called perfluoroisobutylen, which may have caused the patients' death. On December 21 the Zagreb police submitted a special report and filed charges with the Zagreb County Prosecutor's Office against still unknown responsible persons at "Baxter" for having committed a criminal act against people's health by "making damaging products for medical treatment."
