KARLOVAC, Dec 27 (Hina) - Croatia's new minister of the economy, labour
and entrepreneurship has announced a plan aimed at encouraging
entrepreneurship.#L#
After visiting a centre for parentless children in Karlovac (50 km
south of Zagreb) on Saturday, Minister Branko Vukelic told reporters
that his ministry would concentrate on linking big and small companies
so that they could operate as a whole.
That's why the merger of the ministry of the economy and the ministry
of small entrepreneurship was logical, he said.
Commenting on Sarajevo's decision to postpone duty-free import of
Croatia's agricultural produce, Vukelic said that Croatia's interests
would be a priority for his ministry and it would do its best to solve
problems with Bosnia-Herzegovina and introduce a free trade regime
with the neighbouring country as soon as possible.
Announcing the conclusion of a free trade agreement with
Serbia-Montenegro, the minister said: "It is necessary to open markets
and we shall open them".
He went on to say that a good development strategy was a precondition
for manufacturing recognisable products that could be sold on foreign
markets.
"We should now define which branches of the economy we are going to
stimulate (...) Experts will work on this," Vukelic said.
