Two people died in mine-related incidents, four sustained grave and
four light injuries, the statement said, adding that three of the
seriously injured were mine-removal experts.
Plans for this year envisaged clearing 110 square km of mine-infested
land.
Twenty-four commercial companies and one non-governmental
organisation, the NPA, took part in the demining, engaging a total of
587 experts working with 41 machines and 104 mine search dogs.
A total of 226.5 million kuna (EUR29.4 million), of which 149.6
million from the government budget, has been spent on mine clearance
this year, it was said at today's session of the HCR Council.
