The Croatian delegation led by Mesic met local officials for talks
on the possibility of Croatian companies entering the Russian
market through Kaliningrad as a free trade zone.
"As the Croatian public knows, I am in favour of opening free trade
zones to attract foreign capital and high technology, and since
Kaliningrad is such a zone, my associates and I are interested in
seeing first hand how it functions," Mesic said.
The Croatian delegation also visited the grave of the German
philosopher Immanuel Kant, who was born in Kaliningrad, which was
called Koenigsberg at the time.
President Mesic will be back in Zagreb this afternoon.
