can compete for jobs in the reconstruction of Iraq as part of the
Iraq Relief and Reconstruction Fund (IRRF), the Croatian Foreign
Ministry said on Thursday. #L#
The list, which has been compiled by the U.S. Department of Defence,
includes 63 countries which supported the U.S. policy in Iraq or are
members of the coalition troops, said the ministry.
These countries are eligible to land 26 contracts worth US$18.6
billion, the amount the U.S. has secured for the IRRF.
All other countries, Croatia included, are eligible as
subcontractors and may apply under specific rules, said the
ministry.
It added that the IRRF was only one of a number of funds intended for
the overall reconstruction of Iraq, such as the Development Fund
for Iraq, the U.N. fund for Iraq or the Madrid fund of donors. There
are also funds from the International Monetary Fund and the World
Bank.
