Mesic made the statement during talks with the president of Serbia
and Montenegro's parliament, Dragoljub Micunovic, whom he met on
the margins of the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).
Mesic said he informed Micunovic of his having discussed the issue
with Croatia's premier-designate, Ivo Sanader, who had agreed that
the decision enabling Serbian citizens to continue crossing the
border with Croatia without visas should be made by the outgoing
government due to the upcoming holidays.
The president said that the Serbian official had informed him about
the recent presidential elections in Serbia and voiced hope that
the parliamentary elections on December 28 would see a higher
turnout and that they would be won by pro-European parties.
Mesic also met Estonian President Arnold Ruutel, Tunisian
President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, and Azerbaijan's Geidar Aliyev.
Mesic and his Estonian counterpart Ruutel discussed the process of
EU integration, the promotion of economic cooperation, and road
construction.
During talks with Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, which focused on economic
cooperation, Mesic invited his Tunisian counterpart to visit
Croatia.
The talks with Azerbaijan's President Aliyev revolved around the
promotion of economic cooperation.
