The HND Executive Committee feels that the protest is completely
justified and necessary in the everyday struggle for the
preservation of freedom of speech and the credibility of all media,
read the statement signed by HND president Dragutin Lucic.
Rejecting the accusations, the HND's HTV branch said yesterday that
TV reporters had done their job professionally, respecting the
tenets of journalism, for which they had been praised by numerous
viewers and the world's leading TV stations.
They also resolutely dismissed "attempts by representatives of
some political parties to in any way lecture TV reporters on how to
do their job".
Besides the HND, the TV reporters sent their protest note to the
Croatian Helsinki Committee on Human Rights and the OSCE Mission to
Croatia.
