The SDSS issued a statement today saying that the attack was carried
out probably because some radical circles, "emboldened by the
electoral victory of the right, believe that the time has come to
start harassing the Serbs".
The statement further said that the SDSS, "as a party which will
have three deputies in the new Croatian parliament, wants to make it
clear to radical circles that it will not allow the abuse of any
citizen of this country, especially members of the Serb community,
who elected SDSS candidates their legitimate representatives in
the Sabor".
The SDSS requests the current government, as well as "the one which
will soon assume responsibility for the overall situation in
Croatia", to carry out an energetic investigation into the incident
and punish the perpetrator.
