PRISTINA, Nov 19 (Hina) - International peace-keeping forces in Kosovo (KFOR) said in a statement on Wednesday that the security situation in Kosovo and the Balkans has considerably improved over the past few years and that KFOR will
introduce a more flexible and efficient regime of activity in keeping with the new situation.

KFOR is currently reducing its forces to adjust to the new security
conditions, but it remains ready to react immediately to any
situation posing a threat to security in Kosovo, the statement
said.
KFOR troops in the province were downsized from the initial 40,000
to 32,000 in 2002, and to 25,000 in 2003.
