Zlatko Tomcic presented his Croatian Peasant Party's (HSS) project
for the development of Croatia, which envisages economic
development with high GDP rates, improving the system of
administration, eliminating the grey economy, white-collar crime,
underground intelligence, and legal insecurity.
The HSS feels that current models of "neoliberalism and
stabilisation" are obsolete, and believes the government should
play an active role through loans, guarantees, and investments.
Zrinjka Glovacki-Bernardi of Libra said her party's platform
focused on education, the economy, and a cost-efficient and well-
organised government.
Marijan Plese presented the platform of the Alliance of Primorje-
Gorski Kotar (PGS), saying the party advocated decentralisation,
the development of Croatia's regions, human freedoms, social
justice, and a happy family.
Napoleon Ancic presented the platform of the Croatian Revival
Party, saying it aspired to connecting Croats at home and abroad and
advocated higher incentives in tourism, simpler laws on foreign
investments, changing VAT, increasing pensions, reducing the
number of ministries and municipalities, and the protection of
islands.
Aljosa Babic presented the platform of the Party of the New
Alternative - the Green Movement, saying it focused on the ecology,
social justice, the protection of animals, the rule of law,
antiglobalism, and non-violence. He said the party opposed
Croatia's admission to NATO and other military alliances, but
advocated cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal.
Zdenka Cunhil, the HSS candidate for the Czech and Slovak
minorities, said she would advocate economic development and
better ties among minority associations.
Valter Neugebauer, a candidate of the Popular Alliance of Germans
in Croatia for the German and Austrian minorities, said he would
advocate the implementation of constitutional laws guaranteeing
the equality of all Croatian citizens. He added he would publicly
react to violations of human and minority rights.
Mirko Brekalo presented his independent slate, which he said was
patriotic because it consisted solely of war veterans. He said he
would fight for Croats at home and abroad and try to influence the
government "not to destroy the only homeland we have". "Let's not
leave Croatia in the hands of atheists and satanist communists," he
said.
