RIJEKA, Nov 6 (Hina) - Damir Kajin of the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), who is heading the list of the IDS-Social Democratic Party (SDP) coalition in constituency no. 8, said in Rijeka on Thursday the incumbent government failed
to meet all the promises it made at the 2000 election, but added that Gross Domestic Product was increasing and 40,000 new jobs were created.
RIJEKA, Nov 6 (Hina) - Damir Kajin of the Istrian Democratic
Assembly (IDS), who is heading the list of the IDS-Social
Democratic Party (SDP) coalition in constituency no. 8, said in
Rijeka on Thursday the incumbent government failed to meet all the
promises it made at the 2000 election, but added that Gross Domestic
Product was increasing and 40,000 new jobs were created. #L#
He said that the public debt did go up, but that this was the result
of solving the country's illiqudity and constructing highways,
while the rest referred to bank loans for citizens.
Kajin said nothing spectacular would happen overnight and that
Croatia was tired of "the constant revolutions being offered to
us".
He said the IDS/SDP coalition would fight for every job, adding that
without stability not one goal could be achieved.
The arrival of the right wing to power would mean the return to old
policies, Kajin said.
Gordana Sobol of the SDP, who is the second candidate on the
coalition list, said the incumbent government was responsible,
fair and had achieved good results.
IDS president Ivan Jakovcic, the fifth candidate on the list, said
the SDP created great prospects for both Croatia and Istria, adding
that the IDS and the SDP needed to complete the job with joint
forces, which was the task of this coalition.
Other candidates from the IDS/SDP coalition slate were also
presented.
Constituency no. 8 includes Istria County and the western part of
Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
