ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - Zdravko Tomac, until recently a senior Social
Democratic Party (SDP) official and now vice president of the
Croatian Harmony Forum, on Sunday submitted independent slates for
constituencies one and five for the November 23 parliamentary
election. #L#
Tomac heads the slate in the first constituency, which covers the
City of Zagreb, while Jerko Zovak, also an SDP member until
recently, heads the slate in the fifth constituency, which covers
Pozega-Slavonia and Vukovar-Srijem counties.
Tomac said the Croatian Harmony Forum slates feature people who
greatly contributed to the creation and defence of Croatia,
including Franjo Greguric and Tomac himself, the prime minister and
deputy PM of the war-time government, Ante Klaric, vice president
of the war-time parliament, and Davorin Rudolf, an academician.
The slates also include people who were among the founders of two
currently opposing blocs -- the SDP and the Croatian Democratic
Union, Tomac said.
He called on constituents to vote for people and not those who head
slates, and said the upcoming election was important for Croatia's
admission to the European Union.
