"I have the obligation to receive former Yugoslavia's prime
minister and reformer, a man with many business connections," Adnan
Terzic, the chairman of the Council of Ministers, Bosnia's
government, told Dnevni Avaz daily on Saturday, confirming he would
meet Markovic on Tuesday.
Terzic commended Markovic's recent testimony against former
Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic before the Hague war crimes
tribunal.
Bosnian media gave extensive coverage to the testimony, pointing
out that Markovic was one of the rare authentic witnesses who could
confirm that Milosevic and former Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman had indeed planned to divide Bosnia.
Oslobodjenje daily says the reason for Markovic's first visit to
Sarajevo after the disintegration of socialist Yugoslavia is of a
strictly business nature.
The newspaper adds that Markovic is coming on behalf of a group of
Italian businessmen interested in investing in Bosnia's power
utility company.
Besides Terzic, Markovic is expected to meet federal PM Ahmet
Hadzipasic and the director of the Elektroprivreda BiH company,
Enver Kreso.
