SISAK SISAK, Oct 29 (Hina) - The leader of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Vesna Pusic, said in Sisak on Wednesday that "the mandate to form the new government cannot be given to the party which wins the most votes in elections,
but to the party which meets all the three conditions as defined by the Constitution - it must win a sufficient number of seats, it must hold consultations with other parties, and it must hold a majority in parliament".

Speaking at a news conference and a panel discussion, Pusic said
that "discussions about to whom the president of the state can and
must give the mandate to appoint the new government are
entertaining, however, constitutional regulations have to be
respected".
She added that "Croatia does not have an extra 30 days for
experimenting, as this would be irresponsible playing with the
voters' will". "We have to work for those 30 days after the
election, that is what Croatian citizens expect from us," she
said.
"According to public opinion polls, the HNS stands a chance of
winning 15-20 parliamentary seats in the upcoming elections,"
Pusic said.
